Role: Senior Full-Stack Developer (C#, .NET, React) with Lead Skills

Founded in 2018, Smartwyre is a venture‑financed SaaS business delivering enterprise software to large agricultural businesses, operating in a $400 billion global industry. With an estimated 5 million farmers and over 5,000 distributors globally, Smartwyre works across the agricultural supply chain—from large corporations to local farms. Presently, we operate across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and South America.
We are building a B2B SaaS platform to connect the commercial operations of companies supplying seeds, fertilizer, chemicals, and services to the world’s farmers, with primary markets in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
Our approach is to first deliver SaaS applications that solve core commercial pain points (pricing, costing, quoting), then connect these companies through a shared data platform (transactional data exchange, product data, user analytics, and networking), and ultimately enable new business models across the network.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong full‑stack experience to help design, build, and scale our web applications. This is a hands‑on senior individual contributor role, but one that requires demonstrated leadership capabilities and engineering maturity.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who:
- Thrives with end‑to‑end ownership of features and systems
- Has previous experience leading or mentoring other engineers
- Is motivated to grow into or continue in a technical leadership role, helping guide engineering standards, architecture, and team execution
You will be hired first and foremost for your ability to deliver high‑quality software end‑to‑end. At the same time, we expect senior engineers at Smartwyre to bring technical leadership—setting a high bar for code quality, design, collaboration, and ownership. While leadership responsibilities may not be required immediately, this role is well‑suited to someone who is comfortable stepping into leadership as opportunity arises, and whose experience positions them to do so effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable full‑stack web applications using C#, .NET, and React
- Own technical solutions end‑to‑end, spanning backend services, APIs, frontend interfaces, and data persistence
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into sound technical designs
- Contribute to architectural decisions and system design with a focus on long‑term maintainability and scalability
- Write clean, well‑tested, and maintainable code aligned with engineering best practices
- Review code and provide constructive feedback, helping uphold a high standard across the team
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the stack in a timely and thoughtful manner
- Participate actively in agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership to other engineers as situations arise
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong expertise in C#, .NET, and Web API development
- Solid frontend experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Proven ability to work effectively across the full stack
- Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Entity Framework)
- Experience developing and operating applications in cloud environments
- Demonstrated leadership skills, such as mentoring engineers, leading technical discussions, or owning key technical initiatives
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience acting as a technical lead, project lead, or senior engineer with team‑level influence
- Comfortable providing technical direction and guidance without formal people‑management responsibility
- Proficiency with Azure cloud services
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including performance tuning
- Exposure to modern data platforms and analytics solutions (Snowflake preferred)
